Get a first look at the next big thing in the Fallout 4 world.
Players have been enjoying Fallout 4 ever since its release on November 10, 2015, but all good things must come to an end. A lot of players have already done everything they can with the core content, and now all that’s left is mods and eventual expansions.
Today, Bethesda released a trailer to promote Automatron, the first official add-on release for Fallout 4. The company also described just what that release will entail.
“In Automatron, the mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain,” notes the press release. “Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons such as the all-new lightning chain gun.”
The trailer, which we’ve embedded above, begins with menacing background music as a narrator advises that “This is the third time we’ve been attacked by robots like these.” Flames and smoldering ruins make it clear that such attacks don’t go well for the remnants of mankind.
Robot-on-robot combat figures heavily into the scenes that follow, and some of the aforementioned customization is briefly demonstrated. From the look of things, there will be a decent variety of possible combinations. Some robots walk or otherwise locomote on land, like upright humans, and some glide through the air. Weapons and attacks also are diverse, including saw blades and–in one case–a dizzying flurry of punches.
“Now you’ll face the full might of the Mechanist,” crows a man’s vaguely robotic voice, before he encourages his army of robots to “finish this.”
Automatron will be available on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 starting Tuesday, March 22. It should make for a nice excuse to revisit the wastelands.
